It is foundational work made of different layers: cooling system, networking, storage, server provisioning, building inventories, shipping operating systems.
Tinkerbell is an open source project released by PacketHost (acquired by Equinix), now under the Cloud Native Computer Foundation (CNCF) maintained by a healthy heterogeneous community, used under AWS EKS Anywhere, Rackdog, Ingenuity Cloud Services and others. It helps build inventories, provisioning operating systems, firmware update and a lot more.

Community
I do open source development since my first day in this field. I started my working career asking weird questions on IRC because I didn’t know what I was doing. Slowly I started to reply to other people feeling the same. Then my first PRs, blog post, conferences. This is not a way to steal something from Tinkerbell. When you operate a data center it is reasonable for you to require somebody to call when something does not work as expected to pay for operational experiences. I have plans and idea to give back to the community something that spans over my time contributing back to Tinkerbell because a healthy company can do. I am thinking about sharing homelab with maintainers, paying other people that are doing good work around the project to keep it flying!
